The "UME" in UMENISHIKI means plum in Japanese. UME is a deciduous tree which comes from ancient China. Usually, UME flowers have five petals and these are white, red and pink. In Japan, UME is the flower that heralds the beginning of spring. Starting to bloom in the end of winter, they open a little earlier than cherry blossomes. UMENISHIKI'S logo is the UME flower. When KURABITOS finish making sake for the year, the plum flower begins to bloom in celebration. |

| HANAFUDA HANAFUDA began in Edo period and ever since, HANAFUDA has been played as one of the most popular card games in Japan for over 200 years. HANA means flower, FUDA means card.
